Hi, I'm Colleen Senior Front-End Developer
I build WordPress websites that look great,
load fast and are easy to manage.
Work
I'm a senior front-end developer with 10 years of experience creating custom WordPress sites for brands, schools and mission-driven organizations.
Here are a few recent projects I've led, from interactive data maps to fast-moving brand campaigns.
Guttmacher Institute: Abortion Policy Map
An interactive map rating every state's abortion policies, with filters and custom social sharing. One of Guttmacher's most popular pages.
Bella+Canvas: Homepage & Campaigns
A homepage overhaul that cut load time (LCP) from 20s to 1.87s, plus campaign pages and a new sign-up flow on a platform I learned on the job.
Independent School Websites
Custom WordPress sites for four schools, from a bilingual English/French site to a build launched on a tight deadline for the new school year.
National Health Law Program: Doula Medicaid Map
A custom WordPress plugin that turns the team's Google Sheet into a live, interactive state map, with no duplicate data entry.
About Me
I love taking a design and turning it into something real. There is something special about making a site for clients that is a beautiful experience for their users while being an easy-to-use vital tool for their organization.
Most of my work is in WordPress, where I build custom themes, Gutenberg blocks, and custom plugins. When a project calls for something different, I'm happy reaching for Vue.js, 11ty or a headless CMS.
Throughout my career, I've gotten to work with a fun mix of clients: apparel brands like Bella+Canvas and cabi, independent schools, local service businesses, and policy organizations like the Guttmacher Institute. I've learned to pick up new platforms quickly, and I really enjoy working with designers, developers and clients to get things right.
Off the clock, I'm chasing my kids around or getting creative in my craft studio.
